Improve your skin’s overall texture and tone with fractional lasers

Laser treatments, like fractional laser for pigmentation and laser skin resurfacing, are effective methods designed to help you restore a bright, even, healthy-looking appearance. We know just how frustrating acne can be, and at times, scarring and pigmentation are a painful reminder of the damage it has done. Fractional laser skin resurfacing treatments provide a fresh, beautiful start so you can turn the page once and for all.

Skin resurfacing can be an attractive option for anyone looking to improve skin texture and rejuvenate the skin’s surface. Renowned for its effectiveness, fractional laser skin resurfacing is often considered to be one of the best non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatments for hyperpigmentation. Wondering if fractional laser can address your skin pigmentation and post-acne concerns? Let’s dive into it.

What is Fractional Laser?

Skin resurfacing can be an attractive option for anyone looking to improve skin texture and rejuvenate the skin’s surface. Renowned for its effectiveness, fractional laser skin resurfacing is often considered to be one of the best non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatments for hyperpigmentation. Wondering if fractional laser can address your skin pigmentation and post-acne concerns? Let’s dive into it.

Technology

During the treatment, your Victoria Park Medispa expert uses one of our lasers—be it Halo, Fraxel, or C02 lasers—to create tiny thermal holes in the skin.

These microscopic entries are so small, in fact, that they don’t affect the surrounding tissue. This stimulates the natural healing process that works from the inside out, replacing damaged tissue with younger, smoother, healthier skin.

The process helps you achieve clear skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation.

Treatments for Acne Scarring

Before the treatment

Wondering how to get smoother skin but aren’t sure if fractional laser pigmentation can help you meet your skin aspirations? The best way to know is by coming in for a consultation. At this appointment, your Victoria Park Medispa expert will discuss what options are available to you.

During the treatment

Your Victoria Park Medispa expert will apply a topical numbing cream to ensure minimal pain throughout the experience. Depending on your needs or aspirations, treatments lasts about 30 minutes. For the most part, treatments for pigmentation may take one or two visits. Treatments for texture, on the other hand—like scars, stretch marks, and wrinkles—may take up to four sessions in total.

After the treatment

Following treatment, some downtime is necessary. Clients should plan for three to seven days of rest while they experience a “sunburn-like” redness. This irritation is the skin healing itself, allowing rejuvenated skin to shine through. Multiple treatments will be scheduled at four-week intervals. You’ll have to steer clear of the sun in between treatments, and be very diligent about sun protection going forward.

Fractional laser vs. chemical peels: Which one is better for me?

If you’ve ever wondered if you could achieve the same results through a chemical peel, see why the two aren’t the same.

  • Laser treatments can work with other skin concerns, such as wrinkles or fine lines
  • Laser treatments can vastly reduce the appearance of depressed (deeply-embedded in the skin) scarring
  • Unlike chemical peels, laser treatments provide a more accurate and precise treatment
  • Overall, fewer treatments are required with lasers

FAQ

Will I be able to work during my downtime?

A fractional laser treatment is our only laser treatment that demands significant downtime. In the first four to seven days following treatment. You may also experience swelling, as your skin sends extra blood flow to heal. Your skin will look bright red, as if sunburnt, as your old skin sheds and allows the new layer to come through.

We have photos we can show you during consultation that show the typical progression of recovery.

There is nothing preventing you from working, but many clients choose to work from home or take a vacation week during their recovery period.

What’s the difference between Fraxel, Halo, and Co2 lasers?

CO2 fractional lasers are known as ablative lasers that go deeper into the dermis whereas Fraxel is known as an ebrium that penetrates less deeply. Halo is a hybrid laser that can be set to do both.

CO2 fractional lasers can have a bigger impact but require more downtime. These ablative fractional treatments are used for more serious skin rejuvenation issues or for clients that don’t mind longer downtime with fewer treatments.

How long do I need to wait following childbirth to begin fractional laser treatments? Do I need to be done breastfeeding?

We recommend treating C-section scars as early as possible, followed by a fractional laser if needed 6 months postpartum. Breastfeeding is a contraindication for Fractional Laser. We recommend booking your consultation once you’ve stopped completely.
