Excel V Laser

Non-invasive solution

Facial redness, broken capillaries, and sun-induced pigmentation can quietly diminish confidence and draw attention away from the natural beauty of your skin. These visible signs often stem from underlying vascular or inflammatory conditions and may be difficult to conceal with makeup alone.

At Victoria Park Medispa, we understand the frustration of reactive, uneven skin. That’s why we offer the Excel V laser, a precise, medically advanced treatment designed to correct redness, vascular lesions, and pigmented spots at the source. Whether your concerns are linked to rosacea, sun damage, or post-acne discolouration, Excel V offers a sophisticated and highly customizable solution that leaves skin visibly clearer, brighter, and more balanced.

The Excel V laser is a dual-wavelength system developed by Cutera, engineered to target over 20 different vascular and pigmented conditions safely and effectively. Unlike broad-spectrum light treatments, Excel V utilizes precise laser wavelengths that allow it to hone in on unwanted blood vessels or pigment in the skin without affecting the surrounding tissue. This means treatments are not only more efficient, but often require fewer sessions and offer quicker recovery times. With its built-in sapphire cooling tip and customizable settings, Excel V provides a safer and more comfortable experience for all skin types, including sensitive or redness-prone skin. The laser’s versatility also allows it to be used on multiple areas of the body, from delicate facial capillaries to larger leg veins and chest pigmentation.
What is Excel V Laser?

Technology

Excel V combines two clinically validated laser wavelengths, 532 nanometers and 1064 nanometers, into a single device. These wavelengths are carefully selected to target specific chromophores in the skin: hemoglobin for vascular lesions and melanin for pigmented spots.

The 532 nm wavelength is ideal for treating superficial conditions such as facial redness, flushing, and sunspots. The 1064 nm wavelength penetrates more deeply and is used to treat larger, deeper blood vessels or more stubborn pigmented lesions. During treatment, pulses of laser energy are absorbed by these target structures, causing them to collapse or break apart. The body then naturally eliminates them over time, resulting in clearer, more even-toned skin.

Excel V also features real-time contact cooling through a sapphire crystal tip. This innovation enhances patient comfort while protecting the upper layers of the skin, allowing for higher energy levels to be used safely and effectively. Treatments are highly customizable based on skin tone, concern, and sensitivity, which means each client receives a tailored experience for optimal results.

BEFORE THE TREATMENT

In preparation for your Excel V treatment, it is essential to protect the skin from sun exposure for at least four weeks prior. Tanned or sunburned skin may increase the risk of complications, so we recommend avoiding tanning beds and self-tanners during this time. You will also be advised to discontinue certain active ingredients such as retinol, hydroquinone, and alpha or beta hydroxy acids five to seven days before your session.

If you are taking blood-thinning supplements or medications, including Vitamin E, fish oil, or anti-inflammatories like Aspirin or Advil, your provider may suggest pausing them prior to treatment. Clients who are prone to cold sores and are treating areas near the mouth may be prescribed a preventative antiviral medication. On the day of your appointment, arrive with clean, makeup-free skin and avoid applying any lotions or oils to the area being treated.

DURING THE TREATMENT

Once your skin is prepared, your technician will calibrate the Excel V device according to your skin tone and concern. The treatment itself involves a handpiece gliding across the skin while delivering pulses of laser energy. Each pulse feels like a brief, warm snap, comparable to the flick of an elastic band. The sapphire cooling tip continuously soothes the skin, minimizing discomfort throughout the session.

Most treatments last between 15 and 45 minutes depending on the size of the area and the complexity of the condition. For many, visible vessels may temporarily appear gray or darker during the procedure, which is a sign of successful targeting and treatment.

After THE TREATMENT

Immediately following treatment, it is normal to experience mild redness or swelling, which typically subsides within 24 to 48 hours. Pigmented spots may darken initially before flaking off naturally in the days that follow. In some cases, treated vascular lesions may appear more prominent before fading gradually. These are expected outcomes and part of the healing process.

To ensure a smooth recovery and optimal results, avoid heat exposure such as hot showers, steam rooms, or saunas for 48 hours. Refrain from strenuous exercise or anything that causes excessive perspiration for at least one to two days. Apply a mineral sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher daily and reapply every two hours when outdoors. Makeup may be worn the following day, provided the skin is intact and not overly sensitive. Your provider will offer a detailed post-care regimen tailored to your treatment and skin type.

Got questions about the Excel V laser? We’ve got your answers here

Who is a good candidate for Excel V laser?

Excel V is suited for individuals dealing with vascular or pigmentation-related concerns. It can effectively treat facial redness, rosacea, broken capillaries, telangiectasia, cherry angiomas, spider veins on the face and body, and blue or leg veins. It is also helpful for reducing brown spots, sunspots, solar lentigines, post-inflammatory redness from acne, port wine stains, venous lakes, and even post-procedure bruising. Candidates often choose Excel V if they want a versatile solution for both medical and cosmetic skin concerns.

How much does Excel V laser treatment cost?

Pricing varies depending on the area treated and the number of sessions needed. A complimentary consultation at Victoria Park Medispa will provide you with a customized treatment plan and quote.

Does Excel V laser hurt?

Discomfort is minimal and well-tolerated. Clients often describe the sensation as a warm snap or brief prickling, similar to the flick of an elastic band. The device’s built-in sapphire contact cooling soothes the skin instantly, making the treatment comfortable even for sensitive areas.

How long does it take to see results from Excel V laser?

Most clients notice visible improvement within one to two weeks after their first session. Vascular lesions often fade gradually over several days, while pigment spots may darken and flake off within a week. For optimal results, a series of treatments may be recommended depending on your skin concern.

Is Excel V a pulsed dye laser?

No, Excel V is not a pulsed dye laser. It is a solid-state laser that uses two distinct wavelengths (532 nm and 1064 nm) to treat a wide range of vascular and pigment conditions. Compared to pulsed dye lasers, Excel V offers greater flexibility, deeper penetration, and typically less downtime.

Is Excel V laser safe?

Yes. Excel V is a Health Canada-approved, medical-grade laser system with a strong safety profile. Treatments are performed by trained medical professionals and customized to your skin type and condition. The device’s integrated cooling system further enhances safety and comfort.
