Contour TRL Laser

Non-invasive solution

When the mirror begins to reflect signs of deeper lines, roughened skin, and a complexion that has lost its vibrancy, it’s often the result of years of sun exposure, environmental damage, and the natural slowing of collagen renewal. These signs can feel disheartening, especially when you still feel vibrant and youthful within. The Contour TRL laser offers a refined solution for those ready to dramatically resurface and rejuvenate their skin. This advanced treatment is particularly powerful for deep wrinkles, etched-in lines around the mouth and eyes, and scars that have lingered long after the cause is gone. It is a deeply transformative experience, both physically and emotionally, helping restore the smoother, more radiant complexion you remember—and revealing the confidence that comes with feeling truly renewed.

Contour TRL stands for Tunable Resurfacing Laser, a state-of-the-art erbium laser system designed for full-field and targeted skin resurfacing. What sets Contour TRL apart is its ability to precisely customize the depth of ablation and coagulation to the exact micron, giving your medical provider full control over how much tissue is treated. This level of customization allows us to safely treat everything from light textural irregularities to deeply etched wrinkles and significant scarring. Whether the treatment is focused on the delicate perioral and periocular zones or a more extensive full-face rejuvenation, the results are consistently smoother, firmer, and more luminous skin.

Technology

At the core of Contour TRL is an Er:YAG laser with a wavelength of 2940 nanometers. This laser is highly absorbed by water, which is abundant in the skin. When the laser energy is applied, it vaporizes damaged skin tissue with extraordinary precision, while minimizing thermal damage to surrounding tissue. This leads to a shorter and more predictable healing time compared to other ablative lasers.

In the NanoPeel and MicroPeel versions, Contour TRL is used much like a peel, removing 4 to 15 microns of skin for NanoPeel and 15 to 50 microns for MicroPeel, depending on your needs.

As the top layers of aged or damaged skin are removed, the body responds with a surge of collagen production. This neocollagenesis continues over the weeks and months following treatment, enhancing skin structure, firmness, and resilience. Because the treatment is tunable, it can be adjusted for lighter resurfacing or deeper rejuvenation to match your individual goals.

BEFORE THE TREATMENT

In preparation for Contour TRL laser, your provider will evaluate your skin to determine the appropriate treatment depth and establish a pre-care plan tailored to your skin’s health and history. Avoiding sun exposure for at least four weeks before treatment is essential to reduce the risk of pigmentation complications. If you are currently using retinoids, hydroquinone, alpha hydroxy acids, or other active ingredients, these will need to be discontinued several days or weeks before your appointment.

In some cases, a brightening or pre-conditioning regimen may be recommended to optimize your results and reduce post-treatment risks. You may also be prescribed an antiviral medication as a precaution, particularly if the treatment area includes the mouth or if you have a history of cold sores. On the day of treatment, your skin should be completely clean and free of makeup, lotion, or fragrance. Proper hydration is also key; we encourage increasing your water intake 48 hours prior to your appointment to support the healing process.

DURING THE TREATMENT

Your treatment will begin with the application of a topical anesthetic to ensure your comfort. In certain cases, a local anesthetic or oral sedation may be offered for more intensive procedures. Once your skin is fully numbed, the provider will use the Contour TRL handpiece to deliver precise pulses of laser energy across the designated treatment areas.

You may feel a warm sensation and experience a slight snapping or tingling feeling as the laser vaporizes the outermost layers of skin. The length of the session depends on the size and depth of the area being treated, but most treatments range from 30 minutes to over an hour. Because of the laser’s precision, even the most delicate areas around the eyes and lips can be treated safely and effectively.

After THE TREATMENT

Immediately following treatment, your skin will appear red and feel tight and warm, much like a severe sunburn. Swelling and a bronzed or glazed appearance are also expected. These initial effects generally peak within the first 48 hours. Over the next five to seven days, the skin will begin to peel and flake as the damaged layers are shed and fresh skin emerges.

Proper post-care is critical during this time. You will be instructed to perform gentle vinegar soaks several times a day, followed by the application of a healing ointment to keep the skin moisturized and protected. Your provider will give you detailed instructions on cleansing, product use, and how to avoid irritation. Makeup can generally be worn starting one week after the procedure, once the surface of the skin has re-epithelialized.

Sun exposure must be strictly avoided during the healing period and for several weeks thereafter. Broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher must be used daily to protect the newly treated skin and prevent hyperpigmentation. Full recovery varies depending on the depth of treatment, but most clients can resume normal routines within 10 to 14 days. Continued improvement in skin quality will be seen over the following months as collagen production increases.

FAQ

Got questions about the Contour TRL laser? We’ve got your answers here

Who is a good candidate for Contour TRL laser treatment?

Contour TRL is best suited for individuals who want to address deeper skin concerns such as pronounced wrinkles, etched-in lines, scars, or significant sun damage. It is an excellent option for people in good overall health who are seeking dramatic skin rejuvenation and are comfortable with a longer recovery period compared to lighter laser treatments. Candidates often include those with deep wrinkles around the eyes or mouth, uneven skin texture, or keratoses. A consultation with our specialists will help determine if Contour TRL is the right treatment for your skin type and goals.

What conditions can the Contour TRL laser treat?

The Contour TRL laser is especially effective for addressing deep wrinkles around the eyes and mouth, as well as fine lines and etched-in folds. It is also used to improve the appearance of acne scars, surgical scars, and rough or uneven skin texture. In addition, this treatment can help correct sun damage, pigmentation irregularities, and skin laxity caused by loss of firmness. Contour TRL is also effective for treating actinic and seborrheic keratoses, offering both aesthetic and medical benefits.

How much does Laser TRL cost?

The price varies depending on the size of the area treated and the depth of resurfacing. A personalized quote will be provided during your consultation.

How many Contour TRL treatments will I need?

For many clients, one treatment is sufficient to achieve dramatic improvement. However, depending on the depth of your concerns and desired outcome, a second treatment may be advised after a six-month interval. Maintenance treatments can be discussed during your follow-up visits.

Is the treatment painful?

Comfort is our priority. Anesthesia is usually administered by local injection, and in some cases oral anesthesia may also be offered. Most clients describe the sensation as tolerable, with more discomfort during the initial healing phase rather than the treatment itself.

How long do results last?

Results can last for many years depending on your skincare regimen, lifestyle, and sun protection habits. Most clients enjoy a significantly smoother, brighter, and more youthful appearance that continues to improve for several months after treatment.
