BBL HERO® photorejuvenation uses targeted light pulses to address visible pigmentation and vascular irregularities in the skin. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS FROM BBL HERO®?
Results can be seen within a few days after the first BBL HERO® session and continue to improve progressively with each treatment.
Some studies¹ have even shown that regular BroadBand Light (BBL) treatments can make patients appear up to ten years younger. For those seeking these kinds of results, we often recommend our Forever Young BBL™ program, which includes one session per month for a total of three treatments.

WHAT TYPES OF PIGMENTATION, SUN DAMAGE, AND REDNESS CAN BBL HERO® TREAT?
BroadBand Light (BBL HERO®) can effectively treat sunspots (lentigines), sun damage, post-inflammatory pigmentation, freckles, diffuse redness (erythema), and visible blood vessels.
In addition to correcting pigmentation and redness, BBL HERO® stimulates collagen and elastin production, helping improve skin tone, texture, firmness, and radiance.
However, BBL HERO® is not suitable for melasma. Alternative treatments may be recommended depending on your skin type and concerns.

HOW DOES BBL HERO® TREAT PIGMENTATION?
BBL HERO® uses a technology called selective photothermolysis. Pulsed light is delivered through the treatment handpiece and absorbed by melanin (responsible for brown spots) and oxyhemoglobin (responsible for redness and visible blood vessels).
When a pigmented lesion absorbs the light energy, heat is generated, breaking down the melanin without damaging surrounding tissue. The fragmented pigment is then naturally eliminated by the body.
At the same time, BBL HERO® stimulates collagen and elastin production, promoting healthier, stronger, and more youthful-looking skin.
HOW DOES BBL HERO® DIFFER FROM TRADITIONAL IPL (INTENSE PULSED LIGHT)?
BBL HERO® is an advanced, non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatment based on IPL technology. Victoria Park Medispa was among the first providers in Canada to adopt IPL before advancing to BBL HERO®.
BBL HERO® uses multiple wavelengths within a single handpiece to target different layers of the skin, allowing for a highly personalized treatment. Traditional IPL typically uses only one or two wavelengths, limiting its versatility.
BBL HERO® also allows for multiple passes (up to six), enabling gradual and controlled heating of the skin for more precise, comfortable, and effective results. In contrast, IPL generally allows only two to three passes with less customization.

HOW MANY BBL HERO® TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
For optimal results, a series of 3 to 4 BBL HERO® treatments spaced a few weeks apart is generally recommended.
Maintenance sessions once or twice per year can help preserve skin quality, radiance, and long-term results.
